National Drama Conference 2011
Drama: same difference
diversity and mutuality of process and practice
11 - 14 April 2011
Swansea University, Swansea, Wales
The Event
The human need to make drama as a way to explore, understand and influence our relationships and our circumstances is universal. Where people exist so exists drama. Its diversity of form represents the diversity of context in which we live our lives and the diversity of learning experiences we gain from taking part in it. This conference celebrates the diversity of drama and asks if there are mutualities of philosophy, process and practice that underpin it.
Applications

Through a series of thought-provoking keynote presentations and a choice of extended workshops led by outstanding practitioners, the National Drama International Conference 2011, Drama: same difference, will provide the opportunity to explore the many faces of drama in learning settings. As such, the event will be of interest to primary and secondary teachers, advisers, teacher educators, theatre in education workers, theatre educators and all those who are interested in using drama to promote learning.
Within the constantly shifting parameters of our professional lives, National Drama also recognises that professional understanding is dynamic and that practitioners in many settings are actively engaged in researching the nature of drama within educational contexts. In response to this, delegates to this conference are invited to offer papers, presentations and workshops sharing their own active research and reflective practice about the diversities and mutualities of drama. We are, therefore, calling for proposals for 30-minute papers and presentations and 90-minute workshops on the conference theme. Of course, we also warmly welcome delegates who do not wish to present.
