For teachers, actors, educators, scholars and young students
From 25 to 31 of August 2007, on Spetses Isl Greece, the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network is organizing its 6th annual Theatre Summer Camp titled “Ancient Myths & Contemporary Life”. In the friendly and relaxing environment of Anargyreios School, by the sea, with the guidance of skilled artists-educators, teachers, actors, scholars and young students will draw ideas and working material out of the rich culture of ancient myths from Greek tragedies and will investigate their implication in modern life. Movements, rhythm, voice, theatre form, lyrics, humor, chorus patterns are some of the areas we will explore.
Four different workshops, three for adults and one for young people, aged 17-20 titled “Young Theatre Voices” (supported by the Greek General Secretariat for Youth and the Greek Ministry of Culture), will take place, followed by relative film screenings and other activities.
There will be free time for leisure, swimming, rest and entertainment. On the last evening of the Camp groups will present and share parts of their work and join the farewell party.
Each person can participate in only one workshop throughout the Camp period.
FACILITATORS
Giorgos Biniaris-actor, director, Margarita Mandaka-choreographer, Georgina Kakoudaki-dramatic art educator, actor, special scientific collaborator of the University of Patras, Dimitris Sakatzis-actor, director, Jenny Karaviti-Secondary School teacher, MA Contemporary Theatre Practice, Martin Scharnhorst-theatre director, Takis Tzamargias-director, special scientific teaching stuff of the University of Athens.
Arrival-Registration: Saturday 25/8/2007, 12.00-16.30
Departure: Friday 31/8/2007, until 11.00
LOCATION: Anargyreios School, 1 klm distance from the Spetses port. Spetses Isl is 2hours by hydrofoil from Pireus (Athens Port)
ACCOMMODATION (recommended): 6 nights in the rooms of the Anargyreios’ School premises Breakfast and lunch will be served in the School’s Dining Room.
