THE FULL MONTY IN 1 HOUR

Warm up — In circle. MACBETH, KING DUNCAN, MACDUFF, BANQUO

DOUBLE, DOUBLE, TOIL AND TROUBLE.

As they move "Fire burn and cauldron bubble.

Freezing — frozen statue of macbeth. (Can be done at end of lesson)

Split into 4 sections — number them

Witchcraft

Murder

Madness

Evil

Use lights-create atmosphere of the play.

The full monty

Explain that I will be splitting them into groups and that each group will be given a piece of paper with a section of the play. They will be given no script and will have to prepare an improvisation thinking about space, audience, movement and words. They can do it any way they want so long as they get the information across.

They can use the blocks.

We will performing it at 9.35.

Hand out the sections whilst splitting them into groups.

Planning improvs-go round helping.

Set up lights.

1. the witches (3)

 

  1. Macbeth and banquo meet the witches.

They tell him he is now the thane of cawdor and will one day be king.

They tell banquo that he will never be king but his offspring will be. Macbeth is secretly pretty chuffed about this. (5)

 

3. Macbeth is told by the messenger that he is thane of cawdor. Well shocked and now thinking about becoming king. (2/3)

 

4. Lady macbeth gets a letter from macbeth with all the gossip in it. She really wants to be queen and when macbeth arrives they start to think about murder. Lady macbeth is more into it. (2)

 

 

 

 

5. King duncan arrives and lady macbeth and macbeth are dead nice to him and his sons. They give them loads of food and drink. Having an ace time and macbeth starts to bottle.

He goes outside and lady macbeth has a right go at him. Tells him he’s a wimp and finally he gives into her. (3/5)

 

6. macbeth is a bit drunk and really guilty and he sees a blood stained dagger in front of him. With this he goes and kills the king.

Then he feels terrible, blood every where.

Wife takes charge . sorts him out. (2)

 

  1. macduff turns up and waits ages to be let in. finally he’s let in and when he goes to see the king he screams. The king is dead. He wants to question the guards. Macbeth says he’s killed them. The kings sons are dead worried they’ll be next so they leave the country. Macbeth is made king. (2/4)

  2. macbeth is a bit worried that banquo suspects so arranges for him and his son to be murdered before a huge banquet. Banquo is killed and the son escapes. At the banquet macbeth thinks he can see the ghost of banquo all bloody telling him how awful he is. He’s going a bit mad. (3/4)

  3. macbeth has to see the witches again.

    4. He finds them boiling up a brew of toads and snakes etc.

    He demands to know what will happen and they tell him;

    No one born of woman will harm him.

    He will not be defeated until birnam wood comes to dunsinane.

    Macbeth is dead chuffed about this.

    Leaves happy and a bit smug cause a wood can’t move and everyone is born by a woman!!!!(4)

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

  4. macduff is with malcolm in england and he finds out that macbeth has had his wife and children killed. he is determined to kill macbeth. They arrange to attack. They will meet at birnam wood. Each soldier will take a branch of a tree to camouflage as they move forward. (2)

    5.  

  5. Macbeth is gutted cause his wife has killed herself. He loses his castle and ends up fighting macduff on the battlefield. He still feels pretty o.k cause he knows he can’t be killed by a man ‘of woman born’. Then macduff tells him he was born by cesearian.

Macbeth is killed.

Malcom is crowned king. (3)
