In 2002 the London Providers Group for Initial Teaching Training agreed to start a process of greater collaboration amongst initial teacher training providers through the establishment of three working parties:

(i) A Mentor Development group,
(ii) A Primary Assessment group
(iii) A Secondary Assessment group.

These working parties were asked to develop a coherent and common approach to the provision on all routes of initial teacher training across London.
